Alba Ballet is a dedicated Classical Ballet performing company based in Inverclyde. Set up to give true ballet performance opportunities for students. Alba Ballet produced its first full production The Nutcracker in November 2014, which was performed in full set and costume to over 900 people over two evenings. Alba Ballet is now working towards its next production Cinderella in November 2016, which will be performed over 3 nights in two different locations. Alba Ballet train every second Sunday with both Junior and Senior Sections having lessons lasting 4 hours. This really tests dancers stamina and endurance and gives them a small insight into life as a professional dancer. All the hard work eventually pays off when they perform in a Full Length production to hundreds of people, and after The Nutcracker they have built an audience who are looking forward to Alba Ballets next production.
Students are selected by audition only and is open to students not only from Inverclyde but from all over the West of Scotland. Students have travelled from Bathgate, Cambuslang, Glasgow, Paisley, Renfrew, Dunoon and Largs.
Alba Ballets course is unique not only to Greenock but to Scotland, as it offers this fantastic performance opportunity. For the Nutcracker students also had the opportunity to dance and train with two professional dancers.
